SECON S.A. is committed to the responsible, ethical and transparent use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies across all our operations. As a leading security consulting company, we recognise the transformative potential of AI while acknowledging the critical importance of maintaining human oversight, ensuring data protection and complying with European regulatory frameworks.
This policy outlines our approach to AI deployment, the principles that guide our use of AI systems, and our commitment to compliance with the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) and all applicable data protection legislation.
2. AI Application Areas
SECON S.A. may utilise AI technologies in the following areas of our operations:
Security Analytics
AI-powered video analytics, anomaly detection in surveillance systems and intelligent alarm management.
Threat Detection
Automated threat assessment, pattern recognition for cyber-physical security and risk scoring systems.
Predictive Maintenance
Predictive analytics for equipment maintenance scheduling, system performance optimisation and fault prevention.
3. AI Usage Principles
Our use of AI is guided by the following core principles:
Transparency
We are open about when and how AI systems are used in our services. Clients and stakeholders are informed about AI involvement in processes that affect them.
Fairness & Non-Discrimination
We ensure our AI systems do not produce discriminatory outcomes. Regular audits are conducted to identify and mitigate bias in AI algorithms and training data.
Human Oversight
AI systems operate under meaningful human supervision. Critical decisions are always reviewed and approved by qualified human operators before implementation.
Data Protection
All AI systems comply with GDPR and Greek data protection law. Data minimisation, purpose limitation and privacy-by-design principles are embedded in every AI implementation.
4. EU AI Act Compliance
SECON S.A. is committed to full compliance with the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689), which establishes a comprehensive regulatory framework for AI systems in the European Union. Our compliance approach includes:
Risk Classification: All AI systems used or deployed by SECON S.A. are classified according to the risk-based framework of the EU AI Act (unacceptable, high, limited, minimal risk).
Prohibited Practices: We do not deploy or support AI systems classified as unacceptable risk, including social scoring systems, manipulative AI or real-time remote biometric identification in public spaces (unless legally authorised).
High-Risk Systems: For any high-risk AI systems, we maintain comprehensive documentation, conduct conformity assessments, implement risk management systems and ensure robust quality management.
Transparency Obligations: All AI systems with direct user interaction include clear disclosure that the user is interacting with an AI system.
5. Human Oversight
We maintain a strict human-in-the-loop policy for all AI systems deployed in our operations:
Qualified personnel oversee all AI-generated outputs, recommendations and automated decisions
AI systems can be overridden or deactivated by authorised human operators at any time
Regular training programmes ensure our staff understand the capabilities and limitations of AI tools they work with
Incident reporting mechanisms are in place for any AI system malfunctions or unexpected outcomes
6. Data Protection in AI Systems
All AI systems deployed by SECON S.A. adhere to our data protection commitments:
Data Minimisation: AI systems process only the minimum data necessary for their intended purpose
Purpose Limitation: Data collected for AI processing is used exclusively for the stated and lawful purposes
Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA): Conducted for all AI systems that process personal data, particularly those involving profiling or automated decision-making
Security Measures: AI systems are protected by encryption, access controls and regular security audits
For more details about our general data protection practices, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
7. Transparency & Information
SECON S.A. is committed to transparency regarding our use of AI:
Clients are informed when AI systems are used as part of the services provided to them
